Caleb

Caleb Joseph McAllister born August 3rd at 4:24 am. He weighed in at 8 pounds and 2 ounces and was 20 inches long. I still can't believe he is here! It all happened so fast. Matt and I went to the ocean on Saturday and came home Sunday. Matt went and played golf Sunday evening and I caught up on my DVR shows. I stated having contractions that felt very different from all the Braxton Hicks I had been having. These were more intense and LOTS of pressure but still irregular. By 9 that night they were happening more and more. Matt wanted to time them for fun and they were 5 minutes apart lasting about 30 seconds. So we decided to pack a bag just in case. At midnight I went downstairs to let Matt get some sleep, I couldn't get comfortable and I was moving all over. I started watching the clock and by 2 the contractions were 2-3 minutes apart. I went upstairs to get Matt and we called labor and delivery. The lady on the phone says "are you sure you want to come in?" Matt says yes we are defiantly coming in. The walk from the parking garage to the lobby to check in took us about 25 minutes. My contractions were almost on top of each other and they hurt!! I had to keep stopping. We get checked in and a nurse comes to examine me and says, "Oh honey you are dilated to 7, you will be staying with us." They called my doctor and she said since this is her first child it will take a while. So we get to the room and I get into my gown and they start an IV and a different nurse comes in and wants to check me because I kept saying I want to push. She checks me and I am now dilated to 9.5! They have to call my doctor back and tell her to get in here NOW! The anesthesiologist finally gets there but its too late! I am trying my hardest NOT to push, Dr. Morris shows up and 15 minutes later and 3 big pushes Caleb is here. I pushed so hard so quick I broke blood vessels in both my eyes! Its not cute!
Now we are home and working on a routine. His feedings have been going great the last couple of nights. The first few nights were hard. I am so lucky to have Tia. She knows all the tricks and came over one night to help me! I don't know what I would have done without her. (Probably cried a lot!) Matt is a great daddy. he gets up with me every time, he changes diapers and rocks Caleb to sleep. I couldn't ask for a better husband or baby daddy! Now we learn to be parents. Its amazing how much I love this little guy already! I just want to hold him ALL THE TIME! I love to watch him sleep and when he is awake I love watching him look around. We have so much to look forward to!

Caleb is SO precious! It is amazing how much you love them, isn't it? It is overwhelming. You would die for them. Enjoy this very special time with your new little family. It goes so fast. Next thing you know, they are having babies of their own. And that is pretty special too! May God bless you all.
